What We Do

Principle One provides Systems Engineering, Architecture and Business Consulting services within the Law Enforcement and National Security sector. Launched in early 2018, it has already built a strong reputation for deep domain knowledge, flexibility and rapid delivery for UK Law Enforcement.

We recognise that our clients can no longer afford to wait years for large scale programmes to deliver. They need to experiment, innovate, fail fast and continually improve their capabilities to keep pace with an ever more complex core mission.

We are motivated by applying innovative thinking, new approaches and emerging technologies to challenge established ways of working and support our clients in responding to a rapidly changing threat landscape.

Prior to joining Principle One, she held a senior management role for a major consulting organisation. She is currently focused on the development of Principle One’s operating model and growth of its business.

Careers

Principle One is expanding. We offer career opportunities at all levels, both for permanent and associate roles.

Please email [email protected] for more information about any of our roles or to provide a CV.

We are actively seeking experienced consultants with Enterprise Architecture, Systems Engineering, Delivery Management and Business Consulting skills with National Security or Law Enforcement domain experience. Your experience may come from working on large scale capability development or business transformation programmes or from on the job delivery in front line or project roles. You will deliver projects that range from technical de-risk and early stage proof of concept to developing new ideas and approaches for law enforcement and wider national security customers. As we are a small, rapidly growing business, you will also have an opportunity to contribute to our internal processes and systems as we grow and take responsibility for mentoring and supporting junior staff.

You will be working alongside a team of people who are passionate about the work they do and the role we play in helping our clients to make the UK a safer place, tackle crime and safeguard vulnerable people. You will be working in a supportive culture, within an environment where everyone can contribute and constantly challenge themselves.

At present, we are specifically seeking individuals with a Systems Engineering, Solution Architecture and Technical Consulting background who have experience on working on core mission systems for UK Law Enforcement and National Security customers.

Principle One is a consultancy and you may occasionally be required to travel to client sites around the UK. Project work may require working out of customer or partner offices for periods of time. For long term roles outside of London we work with our staff to find the right balance between the demands of the project and work life balance.

Due to the nature of the role and the work we undertake with our clients, you should be a British Citizen, willing and will be required to complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks ahead of employment. Existing security clearance (SC or DV) is an advantage but not essential and you should be willing to apply for security clearance.

We offer opportunities for new and recent graduates. You will work closely with our experienced consultants, developing your technical and consulting skills through a mix of on the job training and workshops run by our domain experts. You will deliver projects that range from technical de-risk and early stage proof of concept to developing new ideas and approaches in digital policing. As we are a small, rapidly growing business, you will also have an opportunity to contribute to our internal processes and systems as we grow.

We are seeking applicants with a strong academic track record in a STEM subject but are also open to applicants from broader backgrounds with a strong interest in working in the Law Enforcement sector for various start dates throughout the year both for graduate roles and shorter term internship placements.

For long term roles outside of London we work with our staff to find the right balance between the demands of the project and work life balance. We are able to offer a range of internships and work experience placements including ten week summer internships, shorter internships throughout the year, and longer industrial placements. In these roles, you will be mentored by our experienced technical staff to develop your own skills with a focus on team work and problem solving and learn about all aspects of systems engineering. You will have the chance to develop your skills in business analysis, software development and testing and agile delivery, trying out a range of different roles during the placement.

We are seeking applicants with a strong academic track record in a STEM subject but are also open to candidates from broader backgrounds with a strong interest in working in the Law Enforcement sector for ten week internships in July 2020 and for 9-12 month placements from September 2020.
