We have put in place a strong social value programme, supporting a range of partner organisations whose values we share and encourage our staff to contribute directly to these or other personal initiatives, making time available alongside our fee earning work.

Our longest standing partnership is with Police Care, the charity for serving and veteran police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families. We have provided pro bono consulting support, including helping to map and refine support pathways as Police Care’s range of services expands to include physical and mental healthcare support, counselling, veterans’ peer support and retraining. We also fundraise for Police Care in more active ways, including half marathons, 10k runs and a sponsored walk for the less active in our team.

Diversity is another issue that is important to us at Principle One. High performing teams thrive on diversity and we are proud to support Coding Black Females in their work to break down barriers to encourage black women from a wide range of backgrounds to enter the technology workplace and to support them as they build successful careers. We work with Coding Black Females to mentor, run Empowerment evenings across their community and supported their first Black CodHer bootcamp in 2021.

Principle One is a secondment partner of the Police Now national graduate leadership programme. Through a strong focus on neighbourhood policing, Police Now seek to attract fresh talent from a diverse range of backgrounds. We offer secondments to Police Now to provide an opportunity to develop participants’ understanding of the role that industry can play in supporting policing and how technology can be used effectively in their roles.

Our partnership with TRAFFIC has centred around their challenges managing the complex and disparate data sources that underpin their work in tackling illegal trade in wild animals and plants. Our summer internships in 2020 focused on some of the data challenges faced by TRAFFIC and provided a challenging set of problems to solve for our interns, enabling us to deliver a strong foundation for TRAFFIC to progress further on completion.
